Project Reborn is a personal project.
While renovating a space to build offices for Stylofoam and a composer suite for Bcnsound, we kept the shopfront open for creative projects that matter to us. We wanted to support disruptive art and design with an earth-friendly approach — work that tackles real problems, challenges the norm, experiments boldly, and stays awake to the world around it.
Designing the branding for this project was a challenge. I wanted to avoid the usual clichés of eco-projects — calm browns, soft greens, gentle symbolism. This is an emergency, not a meditation after all. I wanted action, anger, anarchy and boldness.
In the end, personal projects always end up fighting for time, but I tried to visualize that sentiment. The logo — a “technological, exploding” butterfly — and the name REBORN hopefully set the tone already.
// A personal Journey
In 2023, while on this incredible journey with my family through the Brazilian Amazon, we were appalled by how tourism was exploiting this sacred ecosystem — plastic bottles floating in the river, trash left behind on its once-pristine shores. It was painful to watch, a clear sign of how consumer habits have infected even the most remote corners of the planet.
But the real shock came when we realized that we — in all our supposed awareness — were part of the same cycle. We had flown thousands of miles to witness this destruction — burning through more carbon on that single trip than most of those kids would in years. We were part of the very problem we claimed to stand against.
It’s one thing to know the facts about long-haul flights; it’s another to feel the weight of that contradiction. For the first time, the climate crisis stopped being an abstract idea and became personal.
Out of that dissonance — that mixture of guilt, grief, and responsibility — we created Project Reborn: a space to amplify and support those proving that growth doesn’t have to mean destruction.
Renovating a Space as an Upcycling Exercise
Inspired by Spanish designer Lucas Muñoz and his MO de Movimiento project, we turned our own renovation into an upcycling challenge. Old built-in furniture, floor and staircase wood, leftover fabrics, and even water pipes were repurposed into new furniture, doors, and handles.
It took time, but we’re proud to launch the space in true upcycle spirit.
// Website
A feature-packed site that’s still growing:
The site hosts a directory of local conscious projects, an online shop for Reborn creators, an events calendar, and a space to promote the shared office that we would like to have filled with like-minded people.
