No Boundary is an audiovisual project bringing together musicians and thinkers from diverse backgrounds in a mash-up exploration of 21st century cultural identity.
The fruits of a road-trip throughout Spain and Morocco, the documentary weaves together original songs – composed and recorded in collaboration with the musicians during the trip itself.
Music, interviews and imagery leads you through a thought-provoking musical journey into the heart of the issues we all face as world citizens.
MUSICAL OUTPUT
During the summer 2009, 4 of us went on a road trip from Barcelona to Marrakesh, Morocco, hooking up with musicians on the way. We had an idea for a musical project that could explore connections between cultures and talk about identities in the 21st century. With zero budget and contacts, we improvised the whole experience, meeting the most amazing people, musicians and hosts, who helped us on our journey. Organic Panic we liked to call it.
Using portable recording equipment we shot in dozens of amazing locations, geurilla style, with each musician listening on headphones and playing over the previous day’s recordings, which had been edited quickly on the way to the next shoot. All of the sounds in the music were recorded live, on location, improvised.
Back in Barcelona, we continued to add contributions, including local musicians interested to get involved, including Max from Ojos de Brujo, Juanlu and David from Calima, Gambeat from Manu Chau, Mohammed from the Arab Orchestra of Barcelona and many more.
MISPERCEPTIONS
A protest song about looking without seeing, hearing without listening, judging without understanding.
KASBAH
A soaring piece about finding spiritual awakening or God within oneself, not outside. There are many traditional songs from all cultures that explore this common theme, and all of the singers involved, whatever their language, drew upon this to create their part of this song.
ALEGRE
a feel good piece made from the sounds of a Berber party, a ukelele played in an abandoned Kasbah, and an astounding flute solo recorded in one take on a roof top at sunset in Essouiera with the birds flying around our heads.

// “NO BOUNDRY” DOCUMENTARY
Stylofoam helped with the titles of the teaser and final documentary. But apart from the film itself, we also created a lot of material to help with the project:
- The CULTURELINX logo design
- An informative brochure in several languages to quickly explain to participating musicians and locations what we were doing
- A travelog site to document the actual route of the journey and to present the participating musicians
- Release forms for the musicians
- Business cards & letterhead
- CD/ DVD cover for the final product
- The corporate image including logo & website for Musica Sin Fronteras, a non-profit organisation we created to be able to produce this documentary
